KENNEDY

thoroughly recommends reading these instructions before using the

Site Transformer, even if you have used one before. Reading these instructions
carefully and understanding them fully will enable you to perform tasks correctly and
will prevent injury to yourself or someone else as well as prevent damage to the
work area and equipment. Please keep this instruction manual in a safe place for
future reference.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

IT IS STILL POSSIBLE TO RECEIVE AN ELECTRIC SHOCK FROM A 110 VOLT SYSTEM.

Always check the Transformer case, plug, sockets and cable before use. Never use the
Transformer if anything is found to be damaged or missing.

Always place the Transformer on a heat resistant surface as it will become warm
during normal use.

Always ensure that the power socket to be used is reliably and permanently earthed.

Always allow the Transformer to cool down before resetting the thermal overload
cut-out button.

Always ensure that the electrical rating of the power tool (or power tools combined)
does not exceed that of the maximum power rating of the Transformer.

Always keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.

Always keep the Transformer dry and protect it from damp or wet conditions.

Always turn off the power supply switch and unplug the transformer if you are leaving it
unattended, leaving the work area or in the event of an electrical failure.

Always transport, store and operate the Transformer in an upright position.

Never plug the transformer into an extension lead, only use extension leads from the
transformer.

Never allow untrained persons to use the Transformer.

Never use the Transformer when you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or
intoxicating medication.

Never pull the plug from the power supply by the cable.

Never pull or lift the Transformer by its power lead.

OPERATING

The total load is the combined Wattage (Found on the rating plate) of the appliances being
connected to the Transformer.

Maximum power rating

- If using power tools, the total load can not be above this rating. It is

very important that they are only used for up to 5 minutes and then the Transformer must rest
for 15 minutes.

Continuous power rating

- This is suitable for lighting and other low wattage appliances. The

Wattage of the appliance must be below this rating in order to be left on.

For additional safety, an RCD can also be used between the Transformer and the item being
powered.

Keep the Transformer clean and free from dirt. Unplug the Transformer from the power supply and
wipe clean with a damp cloth.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

When PAT testing, Transformers must not be tested as class 2 appliances. They should be flash
tested at 1.5kV.

Repairs must be performed by a qualified person who is familiar with this type of equipment.
A comprehensive repair and service facility is available through your local Kennedy distributor.

SERVICE & REPAIR

If whilst using the Transformer the power cuts out, switch off all equipment attached to it. Allow the
Transformer to cool down and check the wattage of the appliances are within the “maximum
power” and if necessary the “continuous power” rating of the Transformer. Reset the thermal
overload cut-out switch by pressing the button on the side of the Transformer. If the power cuts out
again, consult your Kennedy distributor.

If the circuit breaker at the power supply keeps tripping, this may be due to Transformers having an
inherent high inrush current. It may therefore be worthwhile to check to see if the circuit breaker
has a 4 or D type curve. Contact a qualified electrician for further advice.

TROUBLESHOOTING

ACCESSORIES

Always dispose of unwanted tools, accessories and packaging materials in an
environmentally friendly manner.

For EU and EEA countries only.

In observance of European Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE) and its implementation in accordance with national law, electrical
goods that have reached the end of their life must be collected separately and
returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.

Do not dispose of electrical goods with domestic waste materials as inappropriate
disposal may cause potential hazards to the environment and human health.

For further information, please contact your local authority or the retailer from whom
you purchased the product.
