TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT
l
The tip temperature can be set as
required by turning the
temperature regulating dial. The
housing is marked with
for orientation purposes
(See fig. 4). You can determine
the ideal setting by trial
soldering a joint, as components
have varying properties. It is not
necessary for the tip to glow
bright red to achieve satisfactory
soldering temperatures.
SPARE PART REPLACEMENT
CAUTION:
Allow the soldering iron to cool down completely. The gas
switch must be in the "off" position. Remove the tip retaining collar,
the tip retaining tube and the tip as before.
l
Front end burner replacement:
Remove the retaining screw using
a 1.5mm (
1/16
") allen key. Note position of retaining screw relative
to alignment mark on iron. Unscrew the front end burner using, if
necessary, a 13mm (
1/2
") spanner, ensure old insulation is
removed and fit new insulation onto gas jet venturi. Fit new burner
tightening until the retaining screw holes are aligned - inline with
alignment mark. Lock in place by re-engaging the retaining screw.
Do not over-tighten (See fig. 5).
l
Gas jet venturi replacement:
Remove front end burner as before.
Remove the gas jet venturi by pulling it directly out from the
soldering iron. Replace with new gas jet venturi, aligning its flats
with the corresponding flat in the bore of the iron. Fit new
insulation onto the gas jet venturi ensuring, where applicable, that
old insulation is removed from front end burner before replacing.
Replace the front end burner as before (See fig. 5).
SAFETY STAND
l
Always use the integral stand to rest the iron on (See fig. 6).
ACCESSORIES
Tips are available as accessories from your local distributor.
