BASIC EXCAVATION TECHNIQUES
When you start digging, always make the first cuts as thoroughly as possible and make sure
you follow the contour.
The purpose of this is to minimise damage to the ground and the bucket. The first cuts are
also important, as they will serve as a template for the remaining cuts. If you carefully follow
the first cuts, subsequent digging will be more precise.
WORKING DIRECTION
When digging with the attachment, extend the boom arm away from the operator.
Lower the arm and bucket and start digging. The bucket’s teeth should be 30º to 45º
to the ground. Once digging has started, bend the bucket until the cutter is horizontal
to the ground. Pull the bucket towards the operator and operate the lever to keep the bucket
at the correct level. When the bucket is moving towards the operator, actuate the boom arm
to maintain an even cutting level. At the end of the digging cycle, bend the bucket fully
inwards while raising the arm. Swing the arm sideways and dump the bucket contents in the
desired place. Start tipping the bucket before you reach the pile. When the bucket is empty,
swing back the arm and position the bucket for the next digging process. The entire digging
should go smoothly until the whole excavation is complete
When the excavation is almost complete, with approx. 15 cm still to be dug, clean and press
on the sides of the excavated hole. Use the flat side of the bucket to flatten the surface.
Remove any protruding stones if they appear to be loose. To finish digging walls, finish the
far wall by tilting the bucket outwards and lowering the arm downwards. To finish digging
the closest wall, tilt the bucket inwards and lift the arm upwards
.
When the sides are finished,
finish digging the bottom of the hole.
AFTER USE
Lower the bucket to the ground to avoid damage, in case it sinks down.
