TIPS ON SITE SELECTION AND
GENERAL USE
• Select a level site without debris or
hollows that can fill with water. Avoid
low-lying areas that could be prone to
flooding.
• Remove sharp objects such as rocks or
branches that could puncture the floor
and spoil a good night’s sleep.
• Check above to ensure you are clear
of any fall zones, and that you have
a safe run-out below. Avoid pitching
directly under trees. Bird droppings
and sap can damage the fly and falling
branches can damage you!
• Pitch the tent aligned into the
prevailing wind. Be aware that
buffeting winds can come from any
direction, especially in the mountains.
• All pegs, guy-lines and poles must be
secure and correctly tensioned.
• Insert pegs angled away from the
tent for greater holding strength. A
large stone placed on a peg can give
additional security. Check it will not
chafe the tent.
