5.26 Before use 

 

CAUTION 

If the back angle of the wheelchair is adjustable, do make sure that the 
wheelchair backrest should be positioned as close as possible to 90 
degrees. 

 

5.26.1 Please detach all easily removable accessories from the 

wheelchair and stow them in a safe place where they cannot 
move around and become a safety hazard. 

5.26.2 A four point tie-down system should tightly fasten to the lower 

wheelchair frame marked with a yellow sticker as pictured. 

5.26.3 An occupant restraint system using both a pelvis and 

harness must also be fastened to the transport vehicle 

to insure user safety. Please refer to the restraint 

system's instructions. 

5.26.4 The attendant / transporter must double-check all fastening 

points for proper connection and tightness to assure the 
wheelchair users safety. The attendant / transporter must be fully 

cognisant of the fastening system's usage and its weight 

limitations.

5.27 Method of Restraint 

5.27.1 KP-20.2 and KP-25.2 were tested with four point webbing 

systems, with the back in the upright position. Please refer to the 

restraint manufacturer’s user guide for further details of its 

operation. 

5.27.2 Fitting the front restraint 

5.27.2.1 Connect the straps around the wheelchair frame and caster 

bracket as pictured below. The anchor point is marked with a 

yellow sticker.
