Audio format indicators
Indicates the format of audio currently being played back.
See “Audio formats” on page 13 for details.

Disc indicator
Indicates the type of the disc set in the tray. When a DVD
VIDEO disc is set, “DVD” lights up. When a Video CD disc
is set, “VCD” lights up. When an Audio CD is set, “CD”
lights up.

AUDIO OUT jacks (14, 16)
Outputs the multichannel signals of a DVD VIDEO disc
recorded by the Dolby Digital or MPEG Multichannel
surround format.
The FRONT jacks also output stereo analog audio signals
when playing back a stereo audio source.

VIDEO OUT - VIDEO jack (14)
Outputs a composite video signal.
Note that, to use this jack, the Y/C - COMP. switch must be
set to “COMP.”.

Y/C - COMP. switch (14, 15)
This selector must be set correctly according to the video
signal type to be used. If you used any signal from the
VIDEO OUT - VIDEO jack, or composite or RGB signal port
in the VIDEO OUT - AV connector, set it to “COMP.”. If you
use the VIDEO OUT - S-VIDEO jack or Y/C signal port in
the VIDEO OUT - AV connector, set it to “Y/C”.

VIDEO OUT - AV connector (15)
This standard 21-pin SCART connector outputs video and
audio signals. It handles the composite, Y/C (S-video) and
RGB video signals. The Y/C - COMP. switch must be set
correctly according to the video signal used.
Note that to make this connector feed RGB signals, you
must change the unit’s setting. (see “How to make the
unit feed the RGB signals” on page 15 for details),

Region code label (12)
Shows region code number.

DIGITAL OUT jacks (OPTICAL/COAXIAL) (18)
Outputs digital audio signals. You must select the signal
type correctly according to the external device connected
to via the Preference display.

VIDEO OUT - S-VIDEO jack (14)
Outputs an S-video signal.
Note that, to use this jack, the Y/C - COMP. switch must be
set to “Y/C”.
Also, this jack does not feed correct signals when you
make the unit feed the RGB signals. See “How to make
the unit feed RGB signals” on page 15 for details.

AV COMPU LINK jacks
These jacks are provided for use in the future. They are
currently not used.

AC IN connector (19)
Connects to the wall outlet using the suppplied AC power
cord.
