Expansion Module for QFX5100
The QFX5100-24Q has two bays on the port panel for optional expansion modules. The
QFX-EM-4Q is the companion expansion module for the QFX5100-24Q, which can
provide four additional QSFP+ ports to increase port density. The expansion module can
be hot-inserted or hot-removed without affecting normal operation of the switch. Port
0 and port 2 ports can be used for port channelization by configuring the system mode
for 104 port mode.
NOTE: Expansion modules and transceivers are not shipped with the switch
and must be ordered separately.
Figure 19 on page 33 shows the QFX-EM-4Q ports and LEDs.

When the expansion module is inserted into the expansion bay, the chassis detects the
additional ports, recognizes them as 40 GbE ports, and lights the Status LED.
Table 10 on page 34 describes the Status LED on the QFX-EM-4Q expansion module.
