Connect PIC Cables to the PTX3000
The PTX3000 Packet Transport Router supports PICs that use various kinds of network
cable, including multimode and single-mode fiber-optic cable. For information about
the type of cable used by each PIC, see the

You connect PICs to the network by plugging in network cable. To connect cable to the
PICs (see

To connect the packet transport router to external devices, you need the following:

The required length of the type of cable used by the PIC. See the
PTX Series Interface

Number 1 Phillips (+) screwdriver to loosen the cable management system captive
screws
•
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding wrist strap (provided in the accessory box)

Attach an ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to the ESD
point on the chassis.
CAUTION:
During the initial installation before the chassis is grounded,
you must connect the wrist strap to an approved site ESD point. See the
instructions for your site.
