Safety Guidelines and Warnings

TN Power Warning

AC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines

The following electrical safety guidelines apply to AC-powered gateway:

For AC-powered gateways, equipment grounding should comply with local and national

electrical codes.

Each AC power supply has a corresponding AC appliance inlet located on the power supply.

Each inlet requires a dedicated AC power feed. For information about site power

requirements, see “Gateway Environmental Specifications” on page 75. For information about

connecting the gateway to power and ground, see “Connecting the Grounding Wire” on

page 37, “Connecting Power to an AC-Powered Gateway” on page 39 and “Connecting Power

to a DC-Powered Gateway” on page 39.

The power cord serves as the main disconnecting device. The socket outlet must be near the

gateway and be easily accessible.

When working with DC-powered equipment, observe the following guidelines and warnings:

DC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines

The following electrical safety guidelines apply to a DC-powered gateway:

A DC-powered gateway is equipped with a DC terminal block that is rated for the power

requirements of a maximally configured gateway.

A DC-powered gateway that is equipped with a DC terminal block is intended only for

installation in a restricted access location. In the United States, a restricted access area is one

in accordance with Articles 110-16, 110-17, and 110-18 of the National Electrical Code

ANSI/NFPA 70.
