Dedicated Streaming Data Service

Inmarsat FBB also

offers dedicated streaming data service whereby user may
reserve a portion of the spot beam carrier for exclusive use
(subject to carrier bandwidth availability).  Streaming service
at 32, 64, or 128 kbit/s are charged by time, not by data traffic
volume. This service is ideal for video conferencing or other
applications where data flow stability is essential.  To reserve
streaming data service,

o

Make sure application hardware and software set up
are ready first;

o

Click 32, 64 or 128 kbps Streaming icon on
LaunchPad. A confirmation window will pop up
stating that existing data connection (if any) will be
closed and the streaming service will be charged by
time.  Click OK if you accept and wish to proceed.

o

To disconnect, click the Connect icon in session. When
the icon loses its outline, the session is disconnected.

Handling Multi-user Environment

The Inmarsat FBB system allows multiple users online and on-air
for packet data and circuit switched services simultaneously –
subject to the carrier bandwidth available.  Here are some general
rules users should be aware of and expect when using JUE-250 for
service.

1.

JUE-250 can create PDP context for each PC connected.
Such context may be primary or secondary. PC assigned
with primary context would have a Global IP address and
can connect to different APNs each with its own user
name and password.

2.

Up to 11 PCs may be connected to JUE-250 through
Ethernet or USB interface. PCs connected by a LAN hub
will each have a primary context assigned.

3.

If a router (which includes a NAT) is used, the whole
private network would appear as a single device to the
JUE-250, and the PCs connected to the router will share a
single primary PDP context. The NAT in the router would
assign IP addresses within its own subnet.

4.

Up to 11 PDP sessions (in any combinations of primary
and secondary contexts) may be assigned. One PC can
only have one primary context.

5.

Any PC with primary context can have one or more
secondary contexts (assigned through LaunchPad).
Secondary contexts are used when multiple applications on
your computer require different types of contexts.

6.

Usually it is not recommended to run both Standard and
Streaming service on the same PC at the same time.

7.

Due to bandwidth limitation, if a PC starts operating the
128 kbit/s Streaming service, other PCs on the vessel
would not be able to get connected for packet data services.

8.

Only one voice call allowed from TEL1, TEL2, or Handset
port at a time.

9.

ISDN voice or fax call is permissible while other CS or PS
services are in session.
