MAINTENANCE
Spark plug
The spark plug condition is in fl uenced by:
• Incorrect carburetor adjustment.
• An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of
oil).
• A dirty air fi lter.
These factors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes,
which may result in operating problems and starting
dif
fi culties.
If the machine is low on power, dif fi cult to start or runs poorly
at idle speed: always check the spark plug fi rst before taking
any further action. If the spark plug is dirty, clean it and check
that the electrode gap is 0.5 mm (0,020"). The spark plug
should be replaced after about a month in operation or earlier
if necessary.
CAUTION! Always use the recommended spark plug type!
Use of the wrong spark plug can damage the piston/cylinder.
Maintenance schedule
Below you will fi nd some general maintenance instructions. If
you need further information please contact your service
workshop.
Daily maintenance
• Check throttle trigger and throttle trigger lockout function.
• Check that the stop switch works correctly.
• Check that the cutting attachment always stops when the
engine is idling.
• Clean the outside of the machine.
• Check that the harness is not damaged.
• Check that the blade guard is not damaged or cracked.
Replace the blade guard if it is exposed to impact or is
cracked.
• Check that the blade is properly centered, sharp and
without cracks.
• Check that the trimmer head is undamaged and not
cracked. Replace the trimmer head if necessary.
• A non-balanced blade/trimmer head induces heavy
vibrations that may damage the machine.
• Check that the blade nut is suf fi ciently tightened.
• Check that the transport guard for the blade is intact and
that it can be secured correctly.
• Check that nuts and screws are tight.
• Check that there are no fuel leaks from the engine, tank or
fuel lines.
Weekly maintenance
• Check the starter and starter cord.
• Clean the outside of the carburetor.
• Clean the outside of the spark plug. Remove it and check
the electrode gap. Adjust the gap to 0.5 mm (.20”), or
replace the spark plug. Check that the spark plug is
fi tted
with a suppressor.
• Clean the cooling fi ns on the cylinder and check that the
air intake near the starter is not blocked.
• Check that the bevel gear is fi lled with grease up to 3/4.
Use special grease.
• Clean the air fi lter.
• Clean or replace the spark arrestor mesh on the muf fl er
(only applies to muf fl ers without a catalytic converter).
Monthly maintenance
• Clean the fuel tank.
• Clean the outside of the carburettor and the space around
it.
• Check fuel hose for cracks or other damage. Change if
necessary.
• Change the fuel fi lter in fuel tank.
• Check electrical wires and connections.
• Replace the spark plug. Check that the spark plug is fi tted
with a suppressor.
• Change the air fi lter.
• Check and clean the spark arrestor mesh on the muf fl er
(only applies to muf fl ers fi tted with a catalytic converter).
