Mount column locking handle (HP3).
The locking handle is adjustable, pull to rotate.

With the aid of a second person, carefully lift the head onto
the column top.
Warning:
The head assembly is heavy! Use care when lifting onto
the column!
Rotate the head assembly until the sides of the belt cover are
parallel with the sides of the base.
Tighten the 2 grub screws (O, Fig 11) firmly.

Install 3 downfeed handles (HP5, Fig 12).

Thoroughly clean spindle, arbor and chuck with a soft rag and
solvent, such as mineral spirits.
Important:
the three pieces must be free from any lubricant.
Any grease, oil or residue in these areas can cause the
pieces to separate, creating a safety hazard and potential
damage to the tool.
Slide the arbor (HP11, Fig 13) into the spindle. Turn the arbor
as you push it, until the tang engages the slot in the spindle.

Push chuck (HP 10) onto arbor.
Open the chuck to completely retract the chuck jaws.
Use a rubber mallet or a hammer against a block of wood and
tap the bottom of the chuck two or three times.
Chuck guard Assembly:
Loosen the hex socket screw (S, Fig 14) and install the chuck
guard assembly (G).
Tighten screw (S) again.

The chuck guard can be adjusted up/down for best user
protection. Loosen the locking knob (L, Fig 15) to adjust.
The chuck guard can be opened (rotated) for setup access.
