Two straps come with the advanced side lying board as
standard. Both straps must be used at all times. Minimum
velcro overlap should be 3” or 75 mm at all times.

Why? Benefits of the Adjustment:
Children will usually lie directly on their side for side lying but this can lead to problems with the upper hip
where the top leg has a tendency to roll forward bringing the top hip into adduction and medial rotation.
Adjusting the angle of the back and surface of the board can help to alleviate this as the child is tilted slightly
backwards and the top hip tends to be more stable in its position. This may also be less tiring for a child.
All belts and harnesses should be used at all
times. For therapy purposes it may be necessary
to deviate from this rule and any deviation
should be fully documented as part of a Risk
Assessment or Therapy Program and all relevant
staff and carers appropriately trained. Secure
client with straps before adjusting product.
Ensure finger’s width between safety strap and
client to prevent over tightening or client moving
to inappropriate position. Adjust straps for each
client and changes of clothing. Minimum Velcro®
overlap: 3 inches (7.5cm) on all straps. If strap is
not long enough: DO NOT USE PRODUCT.
