RAINSWITCH Retrofit/Upgrade Instructions
to convert a JIC-RS100-A to JIC-RS100-B
Purpose of Retrofit:
The
“-A” version
rainswitch used a Pepperell-Fuchs capacitance sensor,
which is a 30mm green plastic proximity sensor. Due to its lack of repeatability
from apparent sensitivity to installation ground, and susceptibility to fouling from
dirt and debris collecting on the face of the sensor, a redesign was necessary.
This level sensor activates
a relay mounted in the “Pilot Station”.
The
“-B” version
rainswitch
uses a conductivity sensor probe with a ½”
MNPT connection to the rainswitch. A level controller is mounted in the “Pilot
Station” in place of the relay used in the “-A” version. This controller sends a very
small current to the probe, so the circuit is completed as soon as water touches
the probe, and after the 3 second delay, switches the contacts in the controller.
This has proven to be extremely repeatable, and not subject to fouling.
Parts Required:
#JIC-RLSK
Level Sensor Kit, consists of two parts:
#R-PHST-12GT-2 Level Probe
#JIC-
RS ADAPTOR, 30mm female x ½” FNPT, 316SS
#WFLT-DM-2011-TD
Level Control Relay. Usually remote mounted as existing
Pilot Station is too small for this relay.
OR NEW PILOT STATION:
#JIC-AT1PB2L-C
Auto-Reset Pilot Station
#JIC-1PB2L-C
Manual Pilot Station
