Installation:
PLEASE NOTE: Prior to doing any work on the connecting terminals of the transformer,
make sure to disconnect the power plug.
1. Clean the bottom panel of the aquarium from the inside (dust-free).
2. Lay the heating cable (5) in loops at an equal distance of approx. 8 – 10 cm on the bot-
tom panel by using the enclosed mounting suction cups (Fig. 3). Make sure the cables do
not crisscross or kink. Moisten the suction cups slightly beforehand for better adhesion.
Caution: The heating cables have a certain length of a cold, non-heating lead (3, Cold
cable, see Table) on both sides. The transition from the cold lead to the heating part is
identified by a marking (4) on the cable.
3. Bring the two cold leads (3) out of the aquarium.
4. b10, b20: Unscrew the cover (10) on the transformer, remove the cover and pull off the
strain relief (9).
5. Secure the two cold leads in the connecting terminals for the cold cable (8) of the trans-
former (2). Polarity as desired.
6. b10, b20: Replace the strain relief and screw the cover back on.
7. Mount the transformer (2) in a well-ventilated place that is safe from splashing water.
8. Pour the substrate into the aquarium (Fig. 4). The following set-up on the bottom of the
tank has proven successful: 1.5 – 4 cm of JBL AquaBasis plus, the substrate developed
specially for aquarium plants, as the bottom layer, directly on the heating cable. This
should then be covered with a 4 – 8 cm thick layer of JBL Manado.
9. After the plants have been planted and the tank filled with water, the transformer can be
connected to the mains.
