6. Installation, operation and
maintenance
Accumulator tanks do not require daily servicing, but a superficial annual inspection
should be performed. The annual inspection should examine
all connections to the accumulator:
Contact your plumber immediately on
detecting a leak or other abnormality.
Repeatedly topping up a heating system
causes damage and the need to do so
may indicate the presence of a leak.
The accessories and materials supplied
together with the accumulator must be
installed and operated according to the
manufacturer’s instructions by a suitably
qualified professional fitter, allowing for
statutory regulations and precautions.
The supplier must be notified
immediately of any problems arising from
these accessories.
Troubleshooting
There are several possible causes of
pressure fluctuations. The most
common reasons are listed below.
Please contact the firm that installed
your appliance or a local plumbing
business on observing any of the
following faults.
• A leak in the system
• The expansion tank is the wrong size
or its precharge pressure is incorrect
• Boiling occurs in the system
• There is air in the system
• The pressure gauge is not working
correctly
Hatch sealing surfaces
The plastic cover must be removed when
checking a hatch.
Connections
Any need to top up the accumulator is
grounds for suspecting a leak in the
system.
