c. Tighten the set screw (item 80) with the hex
key (item 81).
5.2
HEAVY DUTY BLADE SUPPORT (Heavy Duty):
a. Place the grooved end of blade (item 40)
into the guide in the blade support (item
39).
b. Slide the blade over the blade support to-
wards the body of the saw.
Make sure that
the tabs on the blade extend over each side
of the blade support.
5.3 Slide the blade into the push rod (item 84) as far
as it will go.
5.4 Tighten the set screw (item 80) with the hex key
(item 81).
6 BLADE SUPPORT REMOVAL:
6.1 Remove cap nuts (item 31) and flat washers
(item 30).
6.2 Remove blade support (item 39 or 41), threaded
stud (item 44) and bushings (item 43).
7 BLADE SUPPORT INSTALLATION:
7.1 Reverse steps 6.1 -- 6.2.
8 GENERAL DISASSEMBLY:
8.1 Remove blade (item 40 or 42) and blade support
(item 39 or 41).
8.2 Remove handle cover (item 5) and tie bar (item
28).
8.3 Swing air conveying components (items 6--19)
out of gear housing (item 21) and lift air tube as-
sembly end out of motor housing (item 32).
8.4 Disassemble individual components as neces-
sary.
8.5 Examine o--rings (items 6 and 13), screen (item
16) and valve seat (item 18). Replace parts, if
necessary.
8.6 Remove bearing cover (item 24), bottom cover
plate (item 2) and gaskets (item 23 and 3).
8.7 Insert a small block of wood between the con-
necting link (item 78) and the gear housing (item
21) to stop the rotation of the connecting link.
Remove lock nut (item 77) and thrust washer
(item 74).
8.8 Remove rod stud (item 79), connecting link
(item 78) and push rod (item 84).
8.9 Insert a small block of wood between the crank
arm (item 73) and the gear housing (item 21) to
stop the rotation of the crank arm. Using a 5/16
inch hex key, loosen drive shaft (item 70) from
crank arm (item 73).
8.10 Press drive stud (item 72) out of crank arm (item
73) if it is necessary to replace inner race (item
75).
8.11 Clean the gear housing cavity to remove any
contaminated lubricant.
8.12 Remove bearing cover (item 24) and gasket
(item 23).
8.13 Remove screws (item 22) and separate motor
housing (item 32) from gear housing (item 21).
Motor housing assembly will consist of items
50--62, 65 and 91--94.
8.14 Loosen three set screws (item 35).
8.15 Remove items 53--66 and 87--93 from gear
housing (item 21).
8.16 Unthread pinion gear (item 66) from rotor (item
56).
8.17 Disassemble further as necessary to inspect part
for wear. Replace parts as required.
8.18 Lift crown gear assembly (items 67--71) out of
gear housing (item 21).
8.19 Disassemble further as necessary to inspect part
for wear. Replace parts as required.
8.20 Remove pipe nipple (item 94) from front motor
housing (item 50). Slide front motor assembly
(items 50--52) out of motor housing (item 32).
8.21 Remove bushing (item 83) and seals (item 82)
from motor housing (item 32). Inspect parts and
repair or replace as required.
8.22 Disassemble parts further as necessary to in-
spect part for wear. Replace parts as required.
8.23 Reassemble by reversing these steps.
NOTE (when reassembling):
a. Use
Loctite 271
on socket set screws (item
35) after inserting rear motor housing (item
63) into gear housing (item 21).
