Manual Buttonhole

If the diameter of the button is more than 2.5 cm (1˝), 

a buttonhole must be made manually as follows:

Turn the handwheel toward you to raise the needle 

to its highest position. Raise the presser foot lifter.

Set the pattern indicator at “BH” by turning the pat-

tern selector dial.

Attach the buttonhole foot (B).

Pull the buttonhole lever downward as far as it will 

go.

Lower the needle into the garment where the but-

tonhole is to start, and lower the foot.

Sew the front bartack and left row, then stop the 

machine after sewing the desired total length of 

buttonhole.

Pull the buttonhole lever toward you.

Sew the back bartack and right row, then stop the 

machine at the starting point.

To cut the opening and to reset for sewing the next 

buttonhole, refer to the instructions on page 31.
