CAN - at least 10 feet (3.0m)

Distance: Top of Heater to
Vented Opening
(Forced Air Inlet)
If the top of the heater is less
than 3 feet (0.9m) above a vented
opening, the heater must be
installed at least 10 feet (3.0m)
away.
If the top of heater is more than
3 feet (0.9m) above, then any
distance is acceptable.
