retractable push-piece at 8 o’clock,
which is used to trigger the Minute Re-
peater. As soon as the Minute Repeat-
er has been triggered, the push-piece
returns to its initial recessed position,
thus ensuring that the watch’s bal-
anced, harmonious appearance is not
disrupted.
The discretion, user-friendliness, and
technical sophistication of this ingen-
ious innovation are not the retractable
push-piece's only advantages. Unlike
traditional triggers used to activate a
Minute Repeater function, for which the
length of travel along a slide may vary
depending on the number of strikes to
be made, in this mechanism the push-
piece's constant travel distance of just
3.5 mm is enough to both wind the bar-
rel and trigger the minute repeater.
