STARTING _______________________________________________________________
IMPORTANT:
Do not use starting assist fluids.
Use of
such fluids in the air intake system may be potentially
explosive or cause a “Runaway” engine condition and
could result in serious engine damage.
Tractors equipped with diesel engines utilize glow plugs
to preheat the cylinders and improve cold engine starts.
1.
Sit in operator’s seat, make sure the power take-off
switch (M) is OFF and the parking brake is engaged.
Remove feet from pedals. Always use the seat belt
when operating tractors equipped with a ROPS.
2.
Set throttle lever (L) to half throttle.
3.
Diesel engines - Turn ignition switch (W) to the glow
plug position ( ) Hold for about five seconds then
release switch. The colder the temperature, the
longer it will take to energize the plugs. This step is
not necessary when starting a warm engine.
Gasoline engines - If engine is cold pull choke control
(X) up to close choke.
Note:
Do not activates glow plugs continuously for
more than 20 seconds.
4.
Turn ignition key to START (
). Release as soon
as engine starts.
To prevent damage to the starter, DO NOT hold key
in START position for more than 15 seconds. If
engine does not start within 15 seconds, release key
and wait 30 seconds for starter motor to cool before
trying again.
5.
After the engine starts, gradually push the choke
control (X) in.
6.
Allow engine to warm up before operating machine
at high RPM.
Note:
While cranking the engine the engine oil light
(Q) will come on briefly. If the engine oil light remains
on after engine has started, shut tractor off
immediately and check engine oil level.

STOPPING / PARKING _____________________________________________________
To stop:
Remove your foot from traction pedals. The tractor will
automatically brake when the traction pedal returns to
neutral.
Always lower implement and engage parking brake
before leaving machine.
To park the tractor under normal conditions:
1.
Disengage the power take-off (M) to stop cutting
blades, raise the implement and move away from the
area of operation.
2.
Select a flat and level area to park.
a.
Release traction pedal to bring the tractor to a
complete stop.
b.
Lower implement to the ground, reduce throttle
(L) to idle and operate engine at no load for a
minute.
3.
Engage parking brake, stop the engine and remove
the ignition key.
If an emergency arises and the tractor must be parked in
the area of operation, follow the guidelines outlined by
the grounds superintendent.
If the tractor is parked on an incline, chock or block the
wheels.
