5.15.1.2 Cleaning
On initial disassembly, check for contamination like that shown in Figure 109 (left). Contamination like
this will be an early indicator for increased wear in the engine and will warn the overhauler to check
thoroughly for wear on parts like cylinders.
The carburettor exterior can be cleaned using kerosene, then washed with water and air dried.
The carburettor interior can be cleaned using a carburettor cleaner aerosol
– with the exception of the
diaphragm. The diaphragm can be carefully washed using warm soapy water.
Blow out all passageways using compressed air.
