3. BINARY PROGRAMMING
3.1 MFG –Tool Programming
This section explains the step by step procedure to flash the binaries using MFG tool
3.1.1 Requirements
To program the binaries for iW-RainboW-G15M-Q7 platform, following items are required:

Micro SD/ eMMC/ SATA (Minimum 4GB)

Binary files (u-boot-imx6*.imx, boot-imx6*.img, recovey-imx6*.img, userdata.img and system.img)

USB type A to micro B cable.

Host PC (Windows).

The below figure shows the minimum memory requirement of partition for the boot device.

3.1.2 MFG-Tool

The MFG-Tool is a manufacturing tool from Freescale that runs under Windows. It is designed to program
firmware to iW-RainboW-G15M-Q7 platforms for mass production.

For iW-RainboW-G15M-Q7 Solo platform, the system.img should be split for programming. To split the
system.img file, refer the Android Build Procedure section in this document.

The pre-built binaries for iW-RainboW-G15M-Q7 Quad/Dual/DualLite/Solo platform will be in-built with iW-
RainboW-G15M-Q7-RX.X-RELX.X-Android7.1.1-MFG package in the Deliverables.
