To grease or replace the internal shaft:
1.

placing drill with 3/8” nut driver installed onto input shaft and
running in in reverse or counter clockwise. Key will become
exposed and internal shaft freed for removal by sliding out.

2.
Clean the Inner shaft of old grease and any debris Fig 2.
3.
Coat the Inner shaft with two types of lubricant Fig 2. First use
nickel based never seize. Next coat with NLGI Extreme
Pressure Grease.
4.
Use NLGI Extreme Pressure Grease in a gun to grease the
gearbox (5 to 10 pumps depending on the gun).
5.
Re-insert the Inner Shaft and align the key to the keyway. Turn
the drill to forward or to clockwise rotation. Engage trigger of
drill and draw the inner shaft down to 1/4” above top of Gear
Punch Fig 4. Fig4. Fig 2.
CAUTION
: Do not chuck a drill directly to the input. The input shaft is
not covered under warranty if it is used without the provided 3/8” bit
adapters.
CAUTION
: Do not bottom out the GEAR PUNCH. If 1” of the inner shaft
threads are showing out the bottom and the drill sounds like it is
straining, STOP and REVERSE DRILL. The Gear Punch is bottoming and damage will occur. Run in reverse
until the inner shaft is exposed above the punch top and re-install punch, then start over.
