Repositioning
It is very important for the patient to reposition themselves, or to be repositioned, on a
regular basis. This relieves pressure; helps prevent both tissue compression and
potential ulcer formation.
Cleaning, Disinfection and Re-processing
The cleaning protocols should be undertaken as part of a cleaning regime or in the
event of a change of user. The cover can be wiped down using a solution of neutral
detergent and hot water, applied with a single-use wipe. Cleaning agents containing
phenols or alcohols should not be used.
In the event of the cover becoming contaminated, please ask your Infection Control
Officer for advice or alternatively to disinfect the cover apply a 0.1% chloride solution
with a single use wipe and rinse with clean water.
The Heelpad is provided with disposable Platilon covers, facilitating improved
infection control. Additional covers may be purchased separately.
Changing the cover
The cover cannot be changed as it is welded to prevent fluid ingression. Disposable
covers are provided to facilitate infection control.

The foam used to manufacture the Invacare Softform Heelpad is independently tested
and certified in accordance with BS 5852:2006 ignition sources 0, 1 and crib 5. The
Cover is tested to BS7175:1989
