7 TRIM & INSPECT THE BELT
Belt Splicing System v.2.0
7-1
Cut/Puncture Hazard
Wear safety glasses and use caution
when handling knives and trim tools.
Trimming Overview
Thorough weld bead removal is critical for
splicing success. Remaining weld bead or flash
contacting sprockets or the conveyor frame
strains the splice and causes premature belt fail-
ure.
Trim First Weld Bead
FABRICATION TIP
Start removing the weld bead within
three (3) minutes of closing
the Clamping Fixture.
After 10 minutes, the splice is too hard to trim.
1.
With the belt on the Clamping Fixture, move
the weld bead to the stainless surface or other
flat part of the Grooved Decks.
2.
Secure the Cut Guide on the belt next to the
weld bead.
