MODULAR CABLE TEST
To test RJ11 and RJ12 cables, follow the same instructions as the Loopback and Remote Test above. Refer
to the top section of Table A and Table B on the next page.
BASIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The Loopback and Remote test instructions describe the basic way to use both the master and remote
units to read a cable’s wiring. Expanded instructions for other test types exist below.

To perform a loopback test, plug the two ends of the cable into the corresponding jacks on the Main
tester (A and B).
To test patch-panel or wall-plate connections, connect a cable from the Main tester jack (A or B) to the
input ports of the panel or plate, and then connect the Remote Terminator (C) to the output ports of the
panel or plate you wish to test.
Turn on the unit.
Set the toggle to AUTO for the tester to quickly cycle through the pins and their corresponding LEDs.
Set the toggle to MANUAL and repeatedly press the TEST button to advance through pins.
Review the LED results below for the status of the cable’s wiring on the next page in the section “Pin out
Indicator.”

Plug the RJ45 connectors into the jacks on the tester. Then connect the BNC adapter cables on both ends
of the BNC connectors. Follow the instructions above from steps 3 to 5. To correct cable gender issues,
use the included adapters.
Note: The center pin on the BNC connector should be read on LED #1 and the shielding pin should be
read on LED #2. Intellinet recommends reading the LED scan through Manual mode by pressing the Test
button, F.
