3.14.2 Installing the SMM
Do these steps to install/reinstall an SMM. After replacement, it is recommended to migrate backed-up
system settings to the SMM.

1. Grasp the SMM assembly by the metal tray and align it with the SMM bay.
2. Slide the SMM assembly into the SMM bay until it clicks/locks into place (see Figure 49).

3.14.3 Replacing the SMM Battery
The SMM battery powers the system RTC up to 10 years in the absence of power. When the battery starts to
weaken, it loses voltage, and stored server settings and system clock and date settings may be lost.

 3V


Contact the Intel customer service representative or dealer for a list of approved devices.
Warning: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent
type recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to manufacturer’s
instructions.

samme fabrikat og type. Levér det brugte batteri tilbage til leverandøren.
