The 10/100 Mbits/sec LAN subsystem consists of the following:

An RJ-45 LAN connector with integrated status LEDs

LAN Connect Interface (LCI) between the 82562EZ and the ICH6

 82562EZ Physical Layer Interface Device 

The Intel 82562EZ provides the following functions: 

• 

Basic 10/100 Ethernet LAN connectivity

Full device driver compatibility 

• 

Programmable transit threshold 

• 

Configuration EEPROM that contains the MAC address 

1.10.1.1  RJ-45 LAN Connector with Integrated LEDs 

Two LEDs are built into the RJ-45 LAN connector (shown in Figure 11 below).
