Catapult start
(Airglider 40 and 60)
Using the enclosed rubber catapult, you can simply catapult the smaller gliders
into the air. Locate the rubber strap into the hooks at the bottom of the fuselage
and pull it along so that you grasp the glider on the end cap at the end of the
fuselage. Pull the rubber strap with the glider past the body (not at the head),
extend arms completely out. The departure occurs at the same slope and same
angle to the wind as with a hurl start. It is worthwhile to experiment with this
method
Groundlaunch
(Airglider 60 and 90)
You can purchase a ground launcher as an accessory (Item no. 111050). With
this device, you have a large catapult that you can secure to the ground with a
stake. It consists of a long rubber cord (approx. 6 m) that is secured to approx.
20 m of polyester rope. Press the ground stake securely into the ground (use a
hammer if necessary). Using the hooks, hang the model on the end of the
polyester rope and pull the rubber cord out. Hold the model tightly at the end
of the fuselage. With a slight side slope, the model is catapulted into the air.
The departure angle to the wind is like in a hurl start. You can reach great heights
using this method. Always observe the safety rules.
that the right wing tip is sloped down to the right. This slope helps the glider to go right into a flight
curve, which simplifies the transition. If you are left handed, do exactly the opposite. The optimal slope
and throwing angle as well as the correct throwing speed are determined through trial and error. Of
course, many variations of the hurl start are possible. Try out the method that is most comfortable to
you. Do not fear crashes! The Airgliders are sturdy and can endure some impact.
