4. Principles of operation
Connect the laser head to the propriate connector (11, Figure 4) prior to connecting
power cables and turning on the device!

The LD8000 can be operated either on the front panel, or remotely through the USB interface.
Before turning the laser on check all parameters and settings for tolerability by the
connected components!
4.1 Standalone operation
Navigating through the menu
The menu displayed on the front panel of the LD8000 is set up as a
long list of all parameters and values in one column, one line per
each. Four lines are visible on the LC display at a time. To view or to
set other parameters, the list can be scrolled up or down by the Up
and Down buttons respectively.
Rearranging the list
For better visibility, the list order can be rearranged by the user. To
move some line Up or Down, scroll the list so that the desired line is
on the top position. Then press the OK button – the first character of
the line starts to blink – and move the parameter with the Up and
Down buttons. When the desired position is achieved, store the state
with the OK button. If you don’t store the state, the previous state
will be returned automaticaly after 5 seconds.
Changing a parameter or a value
To change a value or a parameter, scroll the list so that the line with
the desired value/parameter is on the top position and rotate the
rotary knob. The cursor starts to blink to the left. Rotating the knob
clockwise will increase the value, rotating it counter clockwise will
decrease the value. To store the new value and make it active press
the OK button. If you don’t want to store the new value, wait for 5
seconds without pressing the OK button and the old value will be
restored.
