6.8 DAB+ display information
When listening to a DAB station, you can check the information shown on the display.
There are different types of information transmitted by the broadcaster.
• Dynamic Label Segment (DLS) - This is a running text information provided by the broadcaster. The information
can be the name of an artist or song, the name of the DJ, the contact details of the radio station, and so on.
• Programme type (PTY) - such as ‘Rock’, ‘Pop’, ‘Talk’ or ‘News’
• Multiplex name - Displays the broadcast range and collection of radio stations on that frequency.
• Time and date - Provided by the broadcaster.
• Signal strength and signal error - The signal error is displayed as a number between 0 and 99.
• Channel and frequency, e.g. 12B 225. 648 MH e.g.
• Signal information - The data rate of the received signal.
• Battery status - 100% indicates a full charge.

Menu button to scroll through the different information options.
6.9 Dynamic Range Control (DRC)
The dynamic range for each radio programme is determined by the broadcaster and can be different for the types of
programmes broadcast, e.g. pop or classical music or a chat show.
The control signal for the dynamic range is transmitted in parallel to the audio signal for each programme.
You can use this control signal with your radio to expand or compress the dynamic range (the difference between
the loudest and softest sounds) of the audio signal being played back.
By changing the dynamic range you can influence the ‘volume’ and/or ‘sound quality’ of the programme and adapt it
to your own personal requirements.
There are 3 levels of compression:
• DRC Off: no compression. This is the default setting.
• DRC Low: medium compression.
• DRC High: maximum compression.
1 Hold down the
Menu
button to call up the menu options.
2 Use the ◂ or ▸ button to select DRC and press the Select button .
The current DRC setting has a to the right of the display.
3 Use the ◂ or ▸ button to select one of the three compression levels and press the Select button . Your DRC
selection (Off, Low or High) is now shown on the right side of the display opposite DRC in the menu list.
Briefly press the Menu button to return to the station display.
