3. INSPECTING THE CONTENTS OF THE SHIPMENT
AND INSTALLATION
Check that all the required parts are included in the shipment:
1 pc furnace and bottom part of the mesh frame
1 pc coiled exhaust pipe
1 pc top part of the mesh frame
1 pc ash pan
1 pc grate
1 pc glass hatch (within a cardboard box)
2 pcs stove collar; 1 for the inside and 1 for the outside of the sauna room (stainless steel or
black).
The delivery also includes 1 ash spatula, 1 connecting pipe and protective gloves for
installation. If the stove will be connected to the IKI T600 chimney, a 30 cm adapter will also
be included.
3.1 Selecting the location for the stove
• Check and measure the safety distances to flammable and non-combustible structures.
•
Check the location of the flue connection (the height of an old chimney connection or the
path of a new chimney).
• Check the floor material (combustible, non-combustible, tiled and waterproofed) and the
floor’s load-bearing capacity.
•
Note that IKI stoves hold a lot of stones which weight a lot.
• IKI wood-burning stoves should ideally be installed into either a brick chimney, a ceramic
chimney or an air-cooled chimney. The outer diameter of the stove outlet pipe is 115
mm.
3.2 Preheating and commissioning the stove
• Before laying the stones or bathing for the first time, preheat the stove outside or in a well-
ventilated space to burn off protective oil solvents.
•
In ordinary use, rough cut olivine diabase stones, less than 10cm in diameter, are
recommended. The stones should be laid carefully, not too tightly, so that air can flow
freely through the stove and heat up the sauna room.
•
The storage of flammable materials (e.g., flammable liquids, etc.) in the proximity of the
fireplace is prohibited.
• All soot fires (even once extinguished) must be reported to the fire authorities.
• The fireplaces and chimneys in a holiday home sauna, which is mainly in private use, must
be swept every three years.
•
The fireplaces and chimneys in permanent residential use and regularly used non-private
holiday homes must be swept every year.
