GENERAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT!
•
The placement of Crushed Glass Media depends on the specific
fireplace model. For directions related to your fireplace, refer to the
Care and Operation
Instructions
and/or
the
Installation Instructions
which came with your unit.
•
The amount of glass medis to be used varies by model. Consult
the
Care and Operation
Instructions
and/or
the
Installation Instruc-
tions
that came with your fireplace for information on minimum and
maximum recommended limits.
INSTALLATION
1. Turn off the gas supply and electrical power to the fireplace.
2. Ensure the fireplace is OFF and COLD.
3. Remove the fireplace glass door assembly, if installed (refer to the
fireplace
Care and Operation Instructions
or
Installation Instructions
).
4. Install media as shown in the
Care and Operation
Instructions
and/
or
the
Installation Instructions.
Figure 1 and Figure 2 are provided
for general reference to linear models.
5. Spread media evenly over the designated area. DO NOT mound up.
NOTE:
For Burn-Thru units, place a thinner layer of media over the
burner area.
6. Reinstall the glass door assembly.
7. Apply electrical power and turn on the gas supply for the fireplace.
REMOVING AND CLEANING CRUSHED GLASS MEDIA
CAUTION: RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY. Allow
media to
COMPLETELY COOL
before handling.
1. Turn off the gas supply and electrical power to the fireplace.
2. Ensure the fireplace is OFF and COLD.
3. Remove the fireplace glass door assembly, if installed (refer to the
fireplace
Care and Operation Instructions
or
Installation Instructions
).
4. To remove glass media from the fireplace, use a clean, dry, empty
shop vac.
To clean glass media:
1. Place media in colander or sieve, and carefully rinse under hot
water.
2. Spread media in a thin layer on a flat surface to dry.
3. Allow media to completely air dry before reinstalling.
WARNING
•
Any attempt to use media not specified for your
fireplace configuration will result in incomplete
combustion, sooting, and poor flame quality, and
will void the warranty.
•
HANDLE MEDIA ONLY WHEN COOL.
Turn OFF all
electricity to the appliance before removing or
installing media. Media gets very HOT during fire
-
place use and will remain hot up to ONE HOUR after
the gas supply is turned off.
•
If media is not installed according to the installa
-
tion instructions, flame impingement and improper
combustion could occur, resulting in soot and/or
excessive production of carbon monoxide (CO), a
TOXIC gas that is colorless and odorless.
WARNING
HOT GLASS WILL CAUSE BURNS.
DO NOT TOUCH GLASS UNTIL COOLED.
NEVER ALLOW CHILDREN TO TOUCH GLASS.
