Figure 4-2: Remove the CPU Socket Protective Shield

Step 2:

Open the socket

. Disengage the load lever by pressing the lever down and

slightly outward to clear the retention tab. Rotate the load lever to a fully open

position. Then rotate the load plate towards the opposite direction. (See

Figure

4-3

)

Step 3:

Inspect the CPU socket

Make sure there are no bent pins and make sure the

socket contacts are free of foreign material. If any debris is found, remove it with

compressed air.

Step 4:

Orientate the CPU properly

. Make sure the IHS (Integrated Heat Sink) side is

facing upward.

Step 5:

Correctly position the CPU.

Match the Pin 1 mark with the cut edge on the

CPU socket.
