3.3 COMMUNICATION CABLE CONNECTION
3.3.1 MULTIPLE CONNECTION THROUGH RS422 COMMUNICATION
RS422/RS232 converter is required for RS422 communication. When connecting multiple devices, you can
connect up to 32 devices for 1 loop.
1) Connection between Host PC and RS422/RS232 Converter
Connect the Host PC and the RS232/RS422 Converter using Cable
If the Host PC has Serial Port, connect RS422/RS232 Converter to the Serial Port using 9 pin Serial Cable.
If the Host PC doesn’t have Serial Port, connect RS232/RS422 Converter using Serial Multi-Port which uses
separate power source.

If the Host PC doesn’t have serial port, attach Serial Multi-Port Card on the Main Board of the Host
PC and then use it. (Serial Multi-Port Card can be optionally purchased.)
Don’t use USB to Serial Port. If you use USB to Serial Port, it outputs low currents then it causes
some malfunctions.
2) Connection between RS422/RS232 Converter and iTDC/iTDC-SR
First, connect RS422/RS232 Converter to the first iTDC/iTDC-SR in cross connection as follows;
- Connect RS422-TX(+) Port of the Converter to RS422-RX(+) Port of the iTDC/iTDC-SR.
- Connect RS422-TX(-) Port of the Converter to RS422-RX(-) Port of the iTDC/iTDC-SR.
- Connect RS422-RX(+) Port of the Converter to RS422-TX(+) Port of the iTDC/iTDC-SR.
- Connect RS422-RX(-) Port of the Converter to RS422-TX(-) Port of the iTDC/iTDC-SR.
Next, from the second iTDC/iTDC-SR, connect one iTDC/iTDC-SR with following iTDC/iTDC-SR in direct
connection as follow;
- Connect RS422-TX(+) Port of one iTDC/iTDC-SR to RS422-TX(+) Port of the following iTDC/iTDC-SR.
- Connect RS422-TX(-) Port of one iTDC/iTDC-SR to RS422-TX(-) Port of the following iTDC/iTDC-SR.
- Connect RS422-RX(+) Port of one iTDC/iTDC-SR to RS422-RX(+) Port of the following iTDC/iTDC-SR.
- Connect RS422-RX(-) Port of one iTDC/iTDC-SR to RS422-RX(-) Port of the following iTDC/iTDC-SR.
