6.  Starting up

• Ideally, use a USB 3.0 Type-C

™

 or Type-A port on your host computer.  

• Hint:

 The maximum data transfer rate of 5 Gbit/s can only be achie-

ved with a USB 3.0 port. USB 2.0 ports can be used, but only with the 
maximum USB 2.0 data transfer rate of 480 Mbit/s. 
 

Starting up with Windows

®

• Connect the USB 3.0 cable to the enclosure. 
• Then connect the enclosure to your Windows

®

 host computer. 

• After the USB device is detected by Windows

®

, a CD drive named 

"ICY BOX FPTool" will be displayed in "This PC". Click it.  
 
 
 
 

•  A .exe file named "FPTool_Windows" is displayed on this CD drive. 

Please run this file. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Starting up with MacOS

®

• Connect the USB 3.0 cable to the enclosure. 
• Then connect the enclosure to your MacOS

®

 host computer. 

•  After the USB device is detected, a CD drive named  

"FPTool_MAC_WIN" will be displayed on desktop. Click it.
