5.5 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

FRONT ENCLOSURE, REAR ENCLOSURE, CRADLE
ASSEMBLY, AND SECURITY DOOR INSPECTION
AND TEST
Inspect the front and rear enclosures, cradle assembly, and security door at least once
every 12 months.
Recommended materials for this procedure are a LifeCare PCA vial and injector,
and a security key.
To inspect the enclosures, cradle assembly, and security door, see
Figure 5-10
, and
proceed as follows:
1. Place the infuser on a flat, stable surface.
2. Inspect the front and rear enclosures for cracks, chips, and gouges. If an enclosure
is cracked, or has a significant chip or gouge, replace the damaged part
(see
Section 7.3.3)
.
3. Inspect the enclosures for stains and discolorations. If the stain or discoloration
is significant, replace the damaged part (see Section 7.3.3) .
4. Insert the key into the lock and verify the key turns 90 degrees to the left to unlock
the security door.
Note: The Operational Instructions label indicates the
UNLOCK
direction.
5. Open the door and check for the presence of the four screws that attach the hinge,
and replace or install any missing screws.
6. Inspect the door and hinge for cracks or damage. Replace the door if it is damaged
(see Section 7.3.8.1) .
7. Inspect the cradle assembly for damage and missing screws. Replace the cradle
assembly, if damaged, and replace or install any missing screws
(see
Section 7.3.8.4)
.
8. Insert a LifeCare PCA vial into the cradle and ensure a secure fit.
Note: Move the cradle to its uppermost position before inserting the vial and align
the vial barcode against the barcode reader.
9. Insert an injector into the injector flange retainer and ensure a secure fit (see
Figure 5-10) .
10. Close the security door and insert the key into the lock. Verify the key turns
90 degrees to the right to lock the security door. Verify that the door aligns
with the door latch assembly and that the door is locked.
11. Inspect the rear enclosure for the presence and tightness of the assembly screws,
located in the handle. Tighten any loose screws and replace any missing screws.
To test the door, access the System Tests in Biomed Mode (see Section 5.6.5) .
