Installing the Windows 95 Peek and Poke Driver
This driver allows developers to write Win95 programs that access hardware I/O ports and physical
memory.
Follow the sequence below to install the Windows 95 Peek and Poke Driver.
• From the Start Menu, select Settings—Control Panel.
• From the Control Panel, select Add New Hardware.
• Click the Next button.
• Click the No button when asked, “Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware?”
• Click the Next button.
• Scroll the hardware types and select “System devices.”
• Click the Next button.
• Click the Have Disk button.
• Insert the disk labeled “Windows NT & Windows 95 PeekPoke Driver Disk.”
• Make sure “A:\Windows95” is selected as the source.
• Click OK.
• “PeekPoke – Direct Hardware Access Driver” should be selected in the Models box.
• Click the Next button.
• Windows95 will copy the driver’s files onto your system.
• Click the Finish button.
• Shut down and reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
Deleting Additional Copies of the Windows 95 Peek and Poke Driver
If you repeat the Windows95 installation procedure described above, you will install a new copy of
the driver each time. Follow the sequence below to delete unnecessary copies of the Peek and Poke
driver.
