IC-706MKII Memory Channel Programming
This programming method uses the radio front panel. Before you program a memory channel, you’ll need to know
the following:
•
Desired operating frequency
•
Offset direction for repeater operation (if applicable)
•
Subaudible tone frequency for repeater operation (if applicable)
Verify Duplex Settings
1.
With the radio off, hold down the LOCK key and then press the POWER key to enter the initial set mode.
Release both keys after the radio turns on.

to select the menu options. Ensure that (

is on. Ensure that the
proper offset under (

is set. For example: if your repeater has a -.600 MHz offset for the
TX frequency, you would set (

Press POWER to turn the radio off and exit the set mode to save the settings. Press POWER again to turn
the radio back on.

Press DISPLAY to select the

menu list. Press MENU to scroll and select
M2
.

Press F-3 (
V/M
) until you have selected VFO mode.
VFO A

appears on the display; either mode
will work. If the radio displays

, press the MENU key to select the
M1
menu and then the F-2 (
A/B

key to select
VFO A
.

to select the desired band.

Rotate the tuning dial to select the desired frequency. Press MODE to select the desired mode (displayed
at the top).

To set your offset or duplex (for repeater operation), Press MENU and scroll through the menus until you
have selected the
M1
menu.

Press the F-1 (
SPL
) key for 2 seconds to activate the quick split feature.
SPL
will appear at the top right of
the screen and the radio will beep twice. The quick split is now set to the offset you selected in step 2 of
Verify Duplex Settings (

DUP OFFSET
. If needed, you can change the TX frequency by pressing and
holding the F-3 (
XFC
) key and adjusting with the tuning dial. The offset appears in the lower part of the
display.

Note:
If you are programming a simplex frequency or repeater frequency that does not require a sub-
audible tone, skip to Saving Settings in a Memory Channel.

If the repeater requires a sub-audible tone, Press the MENU key to select the
M1
menu.
13.
Press the F-2 key to select
VFO B
.
14.
Press and hold DISPLAY to enter the set mode.
15.
Press BAND
▲
or BAND
▼
to scroll through the menu items until
Q4
(repeater tone) appears.
16.
Rotate the tuning dial to select the required repeater tone. Press DISPLAY to exit the set mode.
