COMMISSIONING
Having checked that the voltage and frequency values of the network to which the capacitor is connected are compatible with the indications given on the data
plate of the capacitor, the capacitor may be powered on.
The voltage and current must then be checked and must not exceed the following values:
-
1.1U
N
for the voltage
-
1.3I
N
for the current
Under normal conditions, after a few hours of operation, the surface temperature of the containers should not exceed the ambient temperature by more than 20
°C.
If the temperature of the capacitor is too high or the current or voltage is incorrect, check the operating conditions, paying particular attention to the harmonics,
and call
technical assistance service.
MAINTENANCE
Before accessing the terminals of a capacitor bank, you must wait 5 minutes and then short-circuit the terminals between one another and earth.
The following operations are to be performed on a periodic basis.
Once a month:
-
Visual inspection
-
Ambient temperature check
Once a year:
-
Check that the screws are firmly tightened (this operation must always be performed before commissioning)
-
Check of the current values of the capacitor banks (operation to do also in the phase of start-up) writing their in a schedule; if you have some different
between following measures the working is not correct and could be requested an extraordinary intervention.
-
Check the contactors (the overcurrents and overvoltages that may occur on activation or deactivation may wear the contacts). The latter operation must be
performed more frequently if the contactor is operated more than 20 times an hour and, in any case, reference must always be made to the number of
electrical cycles specified in the contactor manufacturer’s catalogue.
