Installing and Removing Devices in the 1-Inch-High
Drive Space

This section describes the procedures for installing and removing
devices in the 1-inch-high drive space.

Installing Devices

To install devices in the 1-inch-high drive space, do the following:

Remove the top cover.

See “Removing the Top Cover” on page 64.

If the device to install is in a
static-protective package,
carefully remove it from the
package.

See “Handling Internal Options” on page 38 for their
handling.

If the device to install is either
the SCSI device, the ThinkPad
hard disk drive, or the IDE
device, attach it to its optional
installation kit.

See the manual that came with the kit for the attachment
guide.
