Backplanes and enablement kits
All standard models, except models C4x and C5x, ship with eight 2.5" Slim-SFF SAS/SATA hot-swap
hard drive bays. Models C4x and C5x ship with six 3.5" SAS/SATA hot-swap hard drive bays.
The following table shows the internal storage expansion options that are available for x3650 M4 server.

backplane, and it does not consume a PCIe slot.
