Troubleshooting the Systems Director Management Console
Use this information to diagnose and fix any problems that might occur with the IBM Systems Director
Management Console (SDMC).
Restoring profile data
Learn how to read the virtual server profile data from the previously backed-up file on the IBM Systems
Director Management Console (SDMC), and load this data to the server.
Selecting this menu item restores virtual server profile data to the SDMC from a backup file stored on the
SDMC hard disk.
Note:
This procedure is not concurrent. When the data is restored, the server powers on to Partition
Standby.
To restore stored profile data on the SDMC hard disk, you must be a member of one of the following
roles:
v
Super administrator
v
Service representative
To restore profile data, perform the following steps:
1.
In the
Welcome
page, under the
Resource
tab, select the server.
2.
Select
Actions
>
System Configuration
>
Managed Virtual Server Data
>
Restore
.
3.
From the list of backup files, select the profile information that you want to restore.
4.
Select a restore option.
5.
Click
OK
.
Correcting a connection problem between the Systems Director
Management Console and a server
Learn how to correct a connection problem between the IBM Systems Director Management Console
(SDMC) and a server.
Use this procedure in the following situations:
v
You have a new SDMC
v
You have a new system
v
You are using a different SDMC to manage your system.
If your system was previously connected to the same SDMC and is now in
Not Available
state, see
state for a server” on page 28.
1.
Choose from the following options:
v
If the system uses DHCP addressing, go to step 2.
v
If the system uses static addressing, go to step 6 on page 14.
Note:
To find out if your system uses DHCP or static addressing, perform one of the following steps:
v
Use the ASMI by selecting
Network Services
>
Network Configuration
and viewing whether the
IP address field shows
Static
or
Dynamic
.
v
If you have a control panel, use function 30.
2.
If your system uses DHCP addressing, add a system automatically by issuing the following
command:
smcli mksysconn -o auto
.
