Attention: You must turn on your computer before inserting or
removing a Zip diskette.
Formatting Zip Diskettes
You must use the format utility program in the Tools folder to format
a Zip diskette.
To format a Zip diskette:
1. Insert the Zip diskette in the Zip drive.
2. Go to the My Computer window and right-click on the Zip drive
icon.
3. Select Format.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Transferring Files to a Zip 100 MB Diskette
To transfer files from your computer to a Zip 100 MB diskette:
1. Insert the Zip 100 MB diskette into the Zip IDE drive, as shown.
When you insert a Zip diskette in the drive, the drive-busy light

will come on for a moment.
(If the light stays on, push the diskette-eject button to eject the
Zip diskette and then reinsert the diskette.)
2. Click on the Zip diskette icon or drive letter.
3. Use the file transfer procedures for your operating system to copy
files on your computer to the Zip IDE drive. The Zip drive
stores the files on the Zip diskette.
If you are using Windows 98, Windows 95 or Windows NT, you can
click on the 1-Step Backup/Restore icon in your Zip Tools folder to
back up data from your hard disk drive to a Zip diskette.
