Chapter 3. Troubleshooting
There are three basic types of installation problems that can cause
your adapter to function incorrectly: hardware problems, system
configuration problems, and Fibre Channel problems. If you are
having problems, refer to this chapter and review the itemized lists
to help you determine why your adapter is not functioning.
Hardware Problems
The following is an itemized list to help you determine if your
installation problem is caused by the hardware:
Are all of the adapters installed securely in the computer?
Are all of the cables connected securely to the correct
connectors? Be sure that the SC connectors that attach from the
J1 connector on the adapter to the device are connected
correctly.
Is the adapter installed correctly in the expansion slot? Is it
seated firmly in the slot?
Are all peripheral devices properly powered up? See “Scan
Fibre Channel Devices” on page 24 for information about
displaying attached devices.
System Configuration Problems
To find out if your installation problem was caused by system
configuration, check your system board to make sure it is
configured properly (see “Installation Procedures” on page 4).
Fibre Channel Problems
To verify if your installation problem is caused by the Fibre
Channel, determine if all of the FC devices were powered up before
you powered up the server.
