Connecting external options
If you install an optional SCSI adapter, or use the secondary channel on the
integrated SCSI controller for external devices, you can attach external SCSI
devices, such as a SCSI storage expansion enclosure, to the computer. To use
secondary channel for external SCSI devices, remove the SCSI knockout from the
rear of the computer and secure the free end of the secondary channel cable in the
new opening.
You can connect a number of optional external devices to the connectors on the
rear and front of the computer.
Complete the following steps to attach an external device:
1. Review the “Installation guidelines” on page 35, “Safety notices (multilingual
translations)” on page 120, and the documentation that comes with your
options.
2. Be sure that the computer and all attached devices are turned off.
3. Follow the instructions that come with the option to prepare it for installation and
to connect it to the computer.
Note: If you are attaching a SCSI device, see “Ultra320 SCSI connector” on page
66 for SCSI ID and cabling information.
Input/output connectors
Connect optional external devices to the connectors on the front and rear of the
computer.
