Installing device drivers
After you install the expansion card, you must install the device drivers for the
chosen operating system. See “Operating-system support” on page 2 for a list of
supported operating systems.
Notes:
1.
Before you install the device drivers, make sure that the following firmware for
other BladeCenter devices is at the latest level:
v
Advanced management module
v
Blade server baseboard management controller (BMC) or integrated
management module (IMM)
v
Blade server BIOS or UEFI
To find the latest device drivers, complete the following steps:
1.
Go to http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/.
2.
Under
Product support
, select
BladeCenter
.
3.
From the
Product family
list, select your blade server, and click
Go
.
4.
From the
Refine results
list, select
Networking
, and click
Go
to display the
network adapter choices.
5.
Install the device drivers, using the instructions that are provided.
To remove expansion card software from Microsoft Windows environments, use
the Add/Remove Programs function of the operating system. This removes all
communication module components and automatically restarts the system.
Replacing an expansion card
If you have to replace the expansion card, use the procedure in this section to
install the replacement expansion card.
The expansion card is a Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU). Replacement of
Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request,
you will be charged for the installation.
The CRU part number of the Intel 10Gb 2-port Ethernet Expansion Card (CFFh) is
42C1812.

If you are instructed to return a component, follow all packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
To remove the expansion card, complete the following steps:
1.
Read the safety information that begins on page v and the guidelines in
“Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 7.
2.
If the blade server is installed in the BladeCenter unit, remove it (see the
documentation that came with your BladeCenter unit for instructions).
3.
Carefully lay the blade server on a flat, static-protective surface.
4.
Open the blade server cover or expansion-unit cover (see the documentation
that came with your BladeCenter unit for instructions).
