Installing a DIMM

To install a DIMM, complete the following steps.

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”

on page 37.

2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cord and

all external cables (see “Turning off the server” on page 22).

3. Remove the server cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 44).

4. If PCI riser-card assembly 1 contains one or more adapters, remove riser-card

assembly 1 (see “Removing a PCI riser-card assembly” on page 45).

5. Remove the DIMM air baffle (see “Removing the DIMM air baffle” on page 49).
