CORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE IGNITION COIL
ONTO THE CRANKCASE (BOTH CLASSES)
In the case the ignition coil has been removed from the engine, the correct
installation must be performed in order to guarantee the proper ignition
functioning.
-
Take a 0.3mm wedge, gently shape it as an arc to approx. copy the diameter
of the flywheel. Better when the wedge is in magnetic steel, so it is kept in
place by the magnets.
-
Place the ignition onto the crankcase as shown in the picture here below.
-
Install both the M4 screws with the washers, and screw without tightening. The
ignition has still to remain free to slide up and down.
-
Take the 3mm Allen key and
engage the screw on the top
-
Push firmly the coil toward the
center of the flywheel, using your
fingers. Check that the coil bends
the wedge around the flywheel.
-
While you are pushing the coil,
tighten the screw on the top.
-
Keeping pushing on the coil,
tighten also the screw on the
bottom.
-
Before releasing the load, come
back on the screw on the top and
finish tightening. (The nominal
torque to be applied is 3Nm for
both the screws, manual
tightening is sufficient)
-
Gently remove the wedge by
pulling it while rotating the
flywheel
-
Finally, check the gap with the
tip of a good wedge (not bent),
in the tightest position of both the
polar expansions it must be:
-
0.25mm GO
-
0.35mm NO GO
